ANDERSON — J. Warren Stidham, 86, Anderson, died April 7, 2010, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus following an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 3, 1924, in Anderson, to J. Walter and Mabel (Groves) Stidham.

Warren attended Anderson elementary schools and graduated from Anderson High School in 1942, president of his senior class. After high school, he entered Purdue University, but was soon called to serve in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during World War II from February 1943 to October 1945. He returned to Purdue University engineering, graduating in 1948.

Warren started at Guide Lamp Division, July 6, 1948. He advanced through several management posts to sales manager and was on the general manager's executive staff in sales and engineering, manufacturing, reliability and materials management positions. He was director of manufacturing studies when he retired, July 1, 1987, with 38.99 years of dedication.

Stidham held many leadership positions in numerous community activities: former member of the Board of Directors Community Hospital; Board of Directors United Way; Board of Directors Anderson Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors Y.M.C.A. (2 years President); Board of Directors Anderson Country Club; member Anderson Noon Kiwanis; Member Central Christian Church fully involved in numerous leadership positions receiving the honor of Elder Emeritus.

Warren loved life and sharing it with family and friends. He and his beloved wife, Jeannine were avid worldwide travelers and loved fishing however small or elaborate the excursion.

Warren was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Jeannine (Hancock) Stidham; parents, J. Walter and Mabel (Groves) Stidham; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wendel (Louise) Stidham and Walter (Marge) Stidham.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Central Christian Church, Anderson Symphony Orchestra or charity of the donor's choice.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 16, at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with the Rev. Rick Vale officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 15 at the funeral home.
