At the home of her grandparents to this place, Friday noon, May 13, of abscess on the brain, Lena, eldest daughter of Philip and Lena Hess, of near Williamstown, in the 17th year of her age. The decease of this bright, yet humble christian girl was a sad incident to her many schoolmates and relatives. She had been making her home with her grandmother, Mrs. G. Dralle, attending the public schools, and her desire to rank among the first of her classmates was supposed to be the cause her demise. She was converted during Dr. Hawkins' meeting last winter, and united with McKendree Methodist church and proved a faithful and conscientious member. Her funeral took place last Sunday afternonn, the services being conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. B. Wheeler, and her remains laid to rest in the beautiful city of the dead to awake at the call of the righteous on the resurrection morn.
