In 1854 he married Elizabeth Johnson of Logan County Kentucky and they became parents to (4) sons and (2) daughters; with the exception of George who died at age (9) the other five children all survived to adulthood and produced more little Carpenters providing John with many descendents.
Sadly, he lost Elizabeth,the love of his life in her 77th year. John lived another (7) years, passing away from a disorder of the kidneys. He was interred in Duncans Chapel Cmemtery, at the side his dear Elizabeth where they remain together again in their final rest.
