Rev. Ronald J. "Ron" Conro, 67, of Oregon, IL., died Monday, November 13 in Rosewood Care Center, Elgin.
    He was born April 6, 1933, in Hampshire, the son of Edward J. and Berneice Seisser Conro.
    He served in the US Navy Medical Corps and was a graduate of Hampshire High School, Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa and Immaculate Conception Seminary in Immaculate Conception, MO. He was ordained to the priesthood May 29, 1965 at St. James Pro-Cathedral in Rockford by Bishop Loras T. Lane; served as Associate Pastor at St. Patrick Church, Rockford, St. Therese Church, Aurora and Christ the King, Wonder Lake; served as staff Chaplain Rockford Memorial Hospital and Director of Pastoral Care at St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin and was Administrator of St. Joseph Church, Lena and Pastor of St. Mary Church, Elizabeth and Holy Trinity Church, Scales Mound. He retired July 1999 and moved to Oregon were he was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Oregon.
    Survivors include his mother, Berneice Seisser Conro of Elgin; two brothers, Darwin (Beverly) Conro of Hampshire; and Daryl (Marion) Conro of Elgin; 11 nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and long time friend, Father William A. Budden; and his other family: John and Adelle Budden and family, Robert and Jeanne Budden and family, Matthew and Mary Elizabeth Budden and family, and the family of the late James and Rosanne Runde.
    He was preceded in death by his father Edward April 17, 1996; a sister, and twin brothers in infancy.
    Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Friday, November 17 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Oregon, IL with The Most Reverend Bishop Thomas J. Doran, D.D., J.C.D., Bishop of Rockford, main celebrant, assisted by other priests of the diocese. Burial will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Hampshire with a 3 PM committal service.
    Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 PM with a 7:30 PM Prayer Service.
    A Memorial fund has been established for Education of Seminarians. Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Homes, Oregon is assisting with arrangements.
