She was born April 8, 1916 in Elgin, the daughter of Reynolds and Minnie Yurs Glashagel.
She had been a resident of Elgin for most of her life. She was a graduate of Elgin High School Class of 1934. She received her B.S. and M.S. in Education from Northern Illinois University. She taught in School District U-46 for over 20 years before retiring.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Elgin; the Elgin Womens Club; the American Association of University Women; the Elgin Historical Society; the International Clan MacIntyre Association; the Illinois St. Andrews Society; the Elgin Scottish Society; the Elgin Retired Teachers Association; St. John's Church Fellowship Group; and the Friends of Judson. She volunteered at Countryside Manor in Elgin and was a former member of Camp Fire Boys and Girls; the Friends of Gail Borden Library and the Union League Club. She was Altrussa Club Woman of the Year in 1990.
Survivors include three daughters, Susan C. McIntyre, Martha "Marti" (David) Jernberg and Catherine (Michael) Murschel, all of Elgin; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Stephen Jernberg,Christina and Andrew Murschel; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm L. McIntyre on June 7, 1988; and a brother, Dr. Edwin E. Glashagel.
Memorial Services will be 1 p.m., Sunday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, with the Rev. Thomas Niermann officiating. Burial will be private in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m., Saturday and 12 noon, Sunday until the time of services in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fox Valley Hospice or the AAUW-EFP Scholarship Fund.
