Mrs. Ida Pease Davis, formerly of Waverly, died at noon Wednesday, May 25, at Woodlawn Acres Rest Home at Carlinville, where she had lived since October last year. She had been in ill health for an extended period of time, and was 85 years of age at the time of her death.
Deceased was born near Waverly September 5, 1874, a daughter of the late Epaphras and Abigail Perrine Pease. She was a graduate of Waverly High School in the class of 1894, and also attended Illinois Woman's College, Jacksonville, Now MacMurray College.
On January 15, 1901, she was married to Jonathan S. Davis, of Atwater, and most of their married life they resided on their farm near Atwater. They moved to Waverly in 19356, and Mr. David preceded her in death December 1, 1942.
Mrs. Davis was a member of the Waverly Methodist church. As long as her health permitted she was active in church and club circles, and while living at Atwater took part in the work at Bethel church.
Surviving are three children, Jonathan E. Davis of Carlinville, Mrs. J. Spires Sinclair of Raymond and Frank H. Davis of Belleville; 14 grandchildren, one of whom is Mrs. Russell Riggs, of Waverly; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Miss Eola Pease of Carlinville, and formerly of Waverly.
Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Laura Butcher, December 23, 1958, and two children, Robert N. Davis, October 22, 1921, and Elizabeth Davis Hettick, February 20, 1954.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon, Friday, at 2:00 o'clock, at the Wiese Funeral Home in Carlinville, the officiating minister being Rev. Howard Fisher, pastor of the Waverly Methodist church.
Interment will be in Bethel Ridge cemetery near Atwater.
