Lilas A. Shipp was born on July 13, 1922, in El Reno, Oklahoma, the daughter of George W. Vogel and Anna M. Wiese Vogel. She passed away on March 29, 2007, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Lilas grew up on the family farm near Union City, Oklahoma, where she attended grade school. As she began Junior High School, she attended Pocasset Public Schools graduating from Pocasset High School in 1939. She attended Oklahoma College for Women now U.S.A.O. in Chickasha. Lilas married Emmett Shipp on November 4, 1941. Lilas enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking big family dinners. She was a member of the Pocasset First Baptist Church and was a longtime member of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Lorene Martha Vogel and Louella Georgia Massey, her husband, and an infant son.
Survivors include: Daughter & Son-in-law: Georgianne & Johnny Overstreet of Oklahoma City; Daughter: Carolyn Harris of OKC; Brother & Sister-in-law: George & Betty Vogel of Claremore; Granddaughter & Husband: Tonya & Greg Lewis; Granddaughter & Husband: Stephanie & Tad Kite; Grandson: Chad Harris; Five Great-Grandchildren: Zachary Harris, Bailey & Stetson Kite, Hannah & Brooke Lewis; Many Nieces & Nephews
Interment will be in the Pocasset Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
