Vernon Scott Stone, 81, of Hagarville, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2002 at his home. He was born May 13, 1921 at Limestone, Arkansas to Walter & Artie (Creasey) Stone. He was a logger, a farmer, and a life-time resident of Newton County. He was a member of the Deer Church of Christ and he married Alpha May Davis on February 1, 1942 at Limestone.

Mr. Stone was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lorene Peoples and a granddaughter, Julie Ann Stone.

Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Alpha May Stone of the home, six children and their spouses, James & Bernice of Pelsor, Jerry Stone of Jasper, Ricky "Curtis" & Marla Stone of Harrison, Beverly & Wayne Cornwell of Knoxville,
Arkansas, Teresa & Danny Campbell of Hagarville, and Billy & Edie Stone of Hagarville two sisters, Elsie Peoples of Pelsor and Dorothy Brown of Clarksville; 19 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; 6 step-greatgrandchildren and a host of family and friends

Services for Mr. Stone were held October 2, 2001 at 2: p.m. in the deer Gymnasium with Jimmie Mccutcheon officiating.

Pallbearers were grandsons: Argus Stone, Kenny Stone, Michael Carney, Richie Stone, Casey Campbell, Eli Stone, Robert Stone, Travis Stone, Jamie Carney, Tim stone, Brandon Campbell, and Preston Stone.

Interment was in the Curtis Cemetery, Limestone, Arkansas under the direction of the Coffman Funeral Home.
