Esther, the little ten year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Semple died Sunday at eleven A.M., after a short illness. She came home from school Tuesday complaining of pleurisy, which later developed into pleura-pneumonia and while everything that loving hands could do, was done to ease her suffering, she could not be saved, and the little spirit took its flight, after telling her mother and father that she was going to sleep and bidding them good-night.
Esther Hollie was born in Pasadena, California, September 30, 1911, and was 10 years, 5 months and 12 days old. She was a beautiful child, and was a great favorite with all her schoolmates and older people as well, and was ever ready to do what she could for their pleasure, and will be sadly missed, not only in the home circle but by her little friends and all who knew her.
She leaves to mourn their loss, her mother, father, two sister, Ruth and Maxine, grandmother Clark, and a number of other relatives.
The funeral services were held from the Christian Church, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. Sanborn, and were very impressive. Mrs. W. G. Walker played the beautiful piece Humoresque, which was a favorite of Esther's, as the body was tenderly borne into the church by her schoolmates. The pallbearers were Max Seaburn, Harold Winans, Harry Patterson, and Frank Sanders. The casket was covered with beautiful flowers, sent by loving friends, both old and young.
OBITUARY
While the church bells were calling those of earth to worship, the Celestial messenger summoned Esther to a most wonderful worship where she might hear music that ever satisfies the soul.
Esther Holley Semple, daughter of Harry W. and Honey Clara Semple, was born at Pasadena, California, September 30th, 1911. She was called into the larger life Marth 12th, 1922, from her Corydon home, having attained the age of 10 years, 5 months and 12 days.
While a baby Esther learned to know and loved to pick flowers that grew at all time in California. The lesson thus learned became the dominant passion of her life. Her smile and queenly bearing would pluck a blossom from our hearts when we felt that only winter was there; even so when gloom was everywhere her presence was sunshine.
Esther was painstaking in all that she did; finding a joy in doing all things well. She loved those whom she met and could see no evil in them and would think no evil of them. Would that it were possible that we had a conception of ourselves as Esther had of us.
Hers was a short life, yet did she not live longer than some of us who spend more years here?
