Lieutenant Oliph Spencer Leigh-Bennett

Lieutenant Oliph Spencer Leigh-Bennett was the second son of the Rev George Spencer Leigh Bennett and Mrs Constance Laura Leigh-Bennett.

He volunteered in 1914 in the 2nd County of London Yeomanry and served in Egypt and Gallipoli. He was commissioned into the Coldstream Guards in November 1915 and served with them in France. He was severely wounded during the attack on Pilkem Ridge on 31 July 1917 and was Mentioned in Despatches for his actions that day.
Died of pneumonia following influenza at military hospital in Brighton.
