Funeral services will be held at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Durand on Friday April 16, 2010. The Rev. Matthew Webster officiated.
Mrs. Winters was the daughter of Clyde D. & Hazel A. (Marsh) Tyler. Maxine graduated from Durand High School, class of 1937 as Salutatorian. On May 24, 1943 she married Fay E. Winters, Jr. in Durand.
She was a operator for Union Telephone Company, then secretary for Simplicity Sales Dept. and finally secretary for Grand Trunk Railroad. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Durand where she was church clerk, life member of Ladies Auxiliary VFW 2272 and was a Patriotic Instructor & Conductress, Red Cross Volunteer for blood drives and at Pleasant View. Maxine loved to golf, fish, bowl and do gardening, watch the Tigers play and watch Jeopardy.
Maxine is survived by her husband of 66 years, Fay, her daughter Denise (Gregory) Warren of Durand, grandchildren Brian Schneck and Natalie Warren, 3 brothers; David (Dora) Tyler of Durand, Gordon (Wilma) Tyler of Laingsburg, and Thomas (Norma) Tyler of Bancroft, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her twins, 3 sisters and her parents.
Memorials are suggested to the Durand First Congregational Church, Loaves and Fishes, or the Ladies Auxiliary.
