He married Helen Albright Dec.7, 1939. They had two children, Betsy Jean (Enslin) and George Gray Withers. He lived in Scranton PA until moving to east central Florida in 1967. In PA he was self-employed in the coal and oil heating business and was also a great handy-man, able to repair or build almost anything. My dad enjoyed the beautiful Pocono Mountains and had great times hunting deer, pheasant, and wood chuck. He had been active in the Masons for many years and played in the Shriner's oriental band in PA. He also played the banjo, usually accompanied by his wife on the piano. After making the move to Florida, he liked to surf fish at the beach near his home or in the Halifax River. He loved his home and family and was a good husband and father.
Daddy died of a heart attack at the age of 71. A small service was held at his home in Ormond Beach and was conducted by the pastor of the chuch he attended, Daytona Christian Church.
