Ereda was the youngest child and daughter of Hollister and Rebecca (Crowell) Baker.

She was the third wife of Edwin Johnson.

Ereda was previously married to Nathan Howes Jr. (1818-1874). He was the brother of Paulina Howes, the first wife of Edwin Johnson. Ereda and Nathan were married in 1842 in Hawley, Massachusetts. They arrived in Greenfield, Wisconsin in 1845. This union produced seven children between 1844 and 1863. Their third child died as an infant in 1850. Son Edwin Howes died at age 10 in Sept. 1867. Ereda Howes was widowed in 1874.

Edwin Johnson and Ereda Howes were married on April 18, 1876 in Greenfield, Wisconsin. She was 52.

Ereda died in three years later in 1879 at age 55. She was survived by her husband Edwin. Her two youngest children, Freeman and Jennie, were 19 and 16 when she died. Survived also by her married older children Moses, Harriet and Elsie. She was grandmother to 3 granddaughters and 3 grandsons born between 1872 and 1878. (Another granddaughter and another grandson were born later in 1879). Also survived by her brothers Ephraim and Roswell.
