Ellen Mae Longfellow, 74, of Albion, formerly of Florida, died Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at Tendercare of Albion. Mrs. Longfellow was born May 5, 1933, in Coldwater to Howard and Veva (Stevens) Heckman. She married Franklin Elwood Sours Sr. September 24, 1949. They were later divorced. She married Dick Longfellow January 23, 1979. He preceded her in death September 13, 2001. Mrs. Longfellow worked as a waitress for 17 years at Mac's Airport Inn and Goody Shop in Coldwater. She was a nurses' aide at Marshall Manor and Cold-water Manor. She also owned a poodle grooming business and managed a storage unit company in Florida. She enjoyed many activities including boating, snowmobiles, horseback riding, dancing, traveling and camping. She also loved flowers, animals, gardening and going to flea markets. She was a member of the Red Hat Club in Florida. Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Burkwalt (Kent Wolter) of Albion; three sons, Franklin Elwood Sours Jr. of Battle Creek, Terrence Lee (Karen) Sours Sr. of Syracuse, New York, and Chris Allen Sours Sr. of Coldwater; a sister, Eleanor (David) Barnes of Howell; a sister-in-law, Sally Heckman of Athens, nine grandchildren, Jeffrey Cox and Dale Rinehart, both of Albion, Noel, April and Terry Sours Jr. of Syracuse, Tonnia Mantenia, Chris Sours Jr. and Joshua and Amber Sours, all of Coldwater; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband and a brother, Robert Heckman. A memorial service was held Saturday, December 1, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Albion, with the Rev. Dan L. Seng officiating. Interment took place in Florida. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church. J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home in Albion handled the arrangements.
