MSgt. Hilliard "Rod" G. Washington Beaufort, SC Msgt. Hilliard "Rod" G. Washington, USMC, Retired, 52, husband of "Gigie" Washington, died April 8, 2010, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 15, from 1:30-2:30 at St. Peter's Catholic Church followed by a funeral mass at 3:00pm. Burial will be held on Friday, April 16, at 2:30pm at Beaufort National Cemetery. Mr. Washington was born on May 3, 1957, in Gary, IN, a son of the late Hilliard L. and Consoela Brulle Washington. He served our country in the USMC for 21 years. After he retired from the service, he worked as a senior system analyst for the VSE Corporation. He was formerly Chief of Public Affairs at MCAS, Beaufort. He had resided in Beaufort since 1998 and was a member of the VFW and St. Peter's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, a son Girod, a daughter, Mattieson Ria all of Beaufort, a son, Andre of Atlanta, GA, brothers, Anthony of Somerset, NJ, Edward of Gary, IN, sisters, Julie Jordan of Atlanta, GA, Sarah Murchinson of Somerset, NJ, Consuela Marie Washington, of Arlington, VA, Katherine Washington of Houston, TX and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Lee. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the Girod Washington Education Fund, c/o Navy Federal Credit Union, 21 Willis Rd., Beaufort, SC 29902.
