Mr. Baird coached local Special Olympics Team "The Storm," and was an avid Jimmie Johnson NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Robert J. Baird and Corey M. Baird, both of Great Bend; five sisters, Eddi Walty of Everett, Wash., Karen Sisler of Sebree, Ky., Linda Beauchaine of Vallejo, Calif., Gloria Schroeder of Sarasota, Fla., and Roberta Logan of Wichita; two brothers, Gary Baird of Houston, Texas, and Bob Baird of Pratt; a granddaughter, Rylee Mae Baird; and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews
He was preceded in death by parents, one brother, Daniel Baird, and one sister, Georgia Baird.
Funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend, with Father Peter Fernandez, celebrant. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Donations to a memorial fund for "The Storm" may be made in care of the funeral home.
