Jimmie B. Baird, 54, of Great Bend, died April 13 at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born Sept. 13, 1955, at Park City, to Robert Leo and Mary Lou (Pollard) Baird. He married Kimberly R. Tuzicka on June 2, 1984, at Great Bend. He worked for Rainbow Trucking, LLC as an operational manager. He had been a Great Bend resident since 1973, coming from Girard.
Mr. Baird coached local Special Olympics Team "The Storm," and was an avid Jimmie Johnson NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Robert J. Baird and Corey M. Baird, both of Great Bend; five sisters, Eddi Walty of Everett, Wash., Karen Sisler of Sebree, Ky., Linda Beauchaine of Vallejo, Calif., Gloria Schroeder of Sarasota, Fla., and Roberta Logan of Wichita; two brothers, Gary Baird of Houston, Texas, and Bob Baird of Pratt; a granddaughter, Rylee Mae Baird; and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews
He was preceded in death by parents, one brother, Daniel Baird, and one sister, Georgia Baird.
Funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend, with Father Peter Fernandez, celebrant. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Donations to a memorial fund for "The Storm" may be made in care of the funeral home.
