Son of Henry William Adams and his wife Milly. He Served in the Confederacy, Company I, 8th Louisiana Infantry (The Rapides Invincibles). After the war, he married Texana Clark in Catahoula Parish February 21, 1872. He was the father of Mary Ina, Benjamin Jefferson, James Henry, Eliza Jane, Bertha Mae, Minnie and Virgie Henretta "Ettie". One other child is indicated in his obituary.

His transcribed obituary (found on an Ancestry.com tree) states he was from Covington County, AL, was the father of 8 but only 6 were still alive (the name of the 8th child is still unknown at this time) and he died at the home of his daughter "Mrs. Franklin Joy" near Blade.
