After the war, he married Texana Clark in Catahoula Parish February 21, 1872. He was the father of Mary Ina, Benjamin Jefferson, James Henry, Eliza Jane, Bertha Mae, Minnie and Virgie Henretta "Ettie". One other child is indicated in his obituary.
