Son of Albert & Alice (Hunt) Gurtner; sibling - Henrietta (Dawes). Married Bessie Beatrice Bloomer in 1916; they were the parents of Virginia (Black), Elizabeth, Doris Julia (Sunday), James Albert, Jean (Owens), Benjamin Bloomer and Ann Elizabeth (Hale).

Died at age 53 years, 8 months, 14 days.

OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN)
The death of Don Hunt Gurtner, 53, occurred suddenly Wednesday morning at 8:45 o'clock in his home on North Huntington street. Mr. Gurtner had complained of feeling slightly ill for a few days but had not thought his condition serious.

He was born in this county Oct. 28, 1891 to Albert T. and A. Edith (Hunt) Gurtner. He was married June 28, 1916 to Bessie B. Bloomer in Wabash. They resided until about 10 years ago near LaFontaine where Mr. Gurtner was engaged in farming. After moving to Wabash he was employed by the Ford Meter Box company for serveral years as a shipping clerk.

Survivors include the widow and the following children: Jean, Ben and Ann, at home, Mrs. J.A. Black, Wabash, Mrs. Fred V. Sunday Jr., Wabash, and Pfc. James A. Gurtner, U.S. Army in Germany; one sister, Miss Alice E. Gurtner, Indianapolis; one brother, William R. Gurtner, Huntington, and one grandchild.

Mr. Gurther was a member of the Christian Church.

The body will be taken from the Hoover Funeral home to the family residence Wednesday and funeral arrangements will be announced later.
