U.S. Army Retired GROVETOWN, Ga. - Mr. Roy Judkins, 85, husband of the late Mable Judkins, entered into rest Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Starling Funeral Home with the Reverend Wade Trimmer officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta, GA. Mr. Judkins retired from the U.S. Army having served in World War II and Korea. He was the recipient numerous military awards include two Purple Hearts. He was a Mason and a member of Bethesda Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife and a son Roy Judkins, Jr. Survivors include one son Charles Judkins, Grovetown; one daughter Shirley Ann Longlois, Martinez; one sister Mary Hammond, Douglasville, GA; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Stephen Judkins, Robert Akins, Wayne Williams, Billy Bridges, Justin Halter and Jon Rickerson. Suggested edit: In July 2013, the Congressional Gold Medal was awarded, collectively, to the First Special Service Force (FSSF) in recognition of its superior service during World War II. On February 3, 2015 surviving FSSF Veterans were in Washington DC to accept this momentous recognition on behalf of their fellow Forcemen who could not be there.
