Born Aug. 28, 1928, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Emory and Earl Mitchell Thompson.
His wife, Dorothy Blanche Boden Thompson, died April 9, 1988
.
He retired from Fairchild and Rohr Industries, Hagerstown, as an inspector.
He was a member of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, Hancock. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1483, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Sons of the American Legion, Webster B. Harrison Post 26, Hancock.
He is survived by a son, David Lee Thompson of Hancock; two sisters, Dessie McCarty of Hancock, and Hilda Smith of Hagerstown; two brothers, Earlston Thompson and Robert Thompson, both of Hancock; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald H. Thompson, in 1974; and two sisters, Ruth Crooks and Catherine Brake.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, 2 E. High St., Hancock. The Rev. F. Allen Weatherholt Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Cemetery, 14253 Exline Road, Hancock.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, which will be open from 2 p.m.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, 2 E. High St., Hancock, MD 21750.
