SACRAMENTO, Calif., - Herbert (Dunham) Arant, 63, a former Dairy area resident, died in a hospital here on April 24 following major surgery on April 22.

He was born in Ashland, Oregon to Herbert L. and Minnie (Burgdorf) Arant, pioneer resident of Pine Flat and Dairy. He attended the Dairy School.

He served in the Air Force during World War II. He was engaged in logging and farming before moving to Sacramento.

For the past 25 years, he was engaged in the nursery and supply and cattle business in the Sacramento area.

Survivors include the widow, Pauline of Sacramento; daughters, Linda Bartels of Elk Grove, Calif., and Mardette Hargon of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; sons, Larry of Wilton, Calif., Evan of Elk Grove and John of Sacramento; sisters, Mrs. Ersel (Echo) Smith of Bakersfield, Calif.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Franklin Arant of Sacramento; four grandchildren; numerous cousins.

Funeral services were held in the Veterans' Mount Vernon Memorial Park Court of Honor in Fair Oaks, Calif.
