Grant L. 'Sandy' Benson
Casper - Services for Grant L. "Sandy" Benson, 71, are pending at the Bustard Funeral Home and will be announced later. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery with military rites accorded by the United Veterans Council.
Mr. Benson died Sept. 19, 1995, at his home in Casper. He was born Nov. 5, 1923, in Casper, the son of Clarence and Hannah Benson. He grew up in Casper, graduating from Natrona High School. After high school he enlisted in the Army and served during WWII in North Africa and Italy.
Following his discharge from the Army, Mr. Benson returned to Casper. He worked as a salesman at Nolan Chevrolet and then went to work at Western Distributing Co. He worked there for over 35 years before retiring several years ago.
On Jan. 29, 1950, he married Maxine Reed at Grace Lutheran Church in Casper. She died in 1986. Mr. Benson was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and belonged to the American Legion in Douglas, the Eagles Lodge and the VFW.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Barbara Ann Benson.
Survivors include his stepson of Arvada, Colo.; a sister, Kathrine Neese of Casper; and two granddaughters.
