He was born to Carl & Anna (Grebel) Buege. Fred graduated from Milwaukee State Teachers College (now UW-Milwaukee).
He married Erma Ninnemann on June 20, 1942, in Rock Springs. She preceded him in death on Sept. 30, 1974.
Fred served in the U. S. Navy as a supply officer from 1943-1946. He was involved in supply corps training in the Navy at the Graduate School of Business Administration at Harvard.
Fred married the former Ione Holford Techlow Gorz on Aug. 1, 1976, in Madison. She preceded him in death on June 4, 2001.
Fred retired from Ohio Medical, where he worked in personnel human resources.
He was a member of Eastside Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he had served on the church council, its building committee and continued as a volunteer with the school for many years. Fred was also a member of Madison East/Monona Rotary. He enjoyed gardening, travel, golfing, woodworking, and especially his family.
Fred is survived by two sons, three grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, four stepchildren, seven step grandchildren, and 11 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Carl Buege.
Funeral services were held o Friday at Eastside Evangelical Lutheran Church, Madison with the Rev. Mike Novotny presiding. Gunerson Funeral Homes & Cremation Center assisted with arrangements.
