Sikeston - John H. Abernathy, 75 years old, of Sikeston, died Tuesday in MO Delta Community Hospital here. He was born Sept. 13, 1907, at Barfield, Ark.
Mr. Abernathy had resided in Sikeston since 1942. For many years he was a taxi cab driver.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of St. John's Baptist Church here.
Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Josephine Abernathy; sons, John T. Abernathy, Theopolis Heard and Sherman Heard; daughters, Fronie Willis and Ellen Pettigrew; brother, Jimmie Johnson; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Friday at St. John's Baptist Church here. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.
