Mrs. Cowan died Sunday at the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital following a lingering illness. She had lived in the Gallatin Valley since an infant.
Mrs. Cowan was born Oct. 7, 1883, in Alberta, Canada, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Sales, early valley residents. She came to this area as a baby and during her lifetime lived on different ranches in the valley.
She attended Gallatin Valley schools.
She married Edward F. Cowan on Dec. 25, 1906. He died in 1955.
In 1932 the Cowan’s moved to Bozeman and she lived here until her death.
Survivors include two sons, Fred Cowan of Portland, Ore., and Lee Cowan of Bozeman; a daughter, Mrs. Ivan (Idella) Ward of Star Route, two granddaughters, two great grandsons; two brothers, Oscar and Charles Sales of Bozeman; two sisters, Mrs. John (Maggie) Cook of Bozeman and Mrs. Earl (Ida) Robbins of Manhattan and numerous nieces and nephews. Three brothers preceded her in death.
