Orville was the son of Lucius and Mary Murl Moore Phillips. He grew up in the Mt. Carmel area of Milton Township. He was the Brother and Pal of my father Eddie Phillips. Orville served with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Admiralty Islands, at the Momote Airbase. He would tell me stories of japanese air attacks on his base from Rabaul, and taking cover in a slit trench during bombing attacks. He was a resident of Hamden.
