Cecil R. Allen Succumbs To Stroke

Cecil Roe Allen, age 45, died at the Monticello hospital Friday night following a stroke of paralysis suffered at his home at Silver Creek a few hours earlier. He had been ill for a few weeks with influenza and complications prior to suffering the fatal stroke.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church at 10 A.M. Sunday with the pastor, Rev. Raymond Jones, officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery with Walden's Funeral Home of Prentiss in charge. Pall bearers were George Weathersby, Horace Speights, Jr., W. T. Beasley, Garson Johnston, M. W. Brister and Jack Parkman.

Mr. Allen was born near Bassfield and resided in Prentiss for many years, having served as foreman in the Ford Motor Co. repair shop for years when it was located in the building now occupied by Luper-Baylis Co. and Tynes' Men's Shop.

He is survived by his wife, the former Mrs. Angelina Jolly and their child, Cecilia Ann Allen; two children by a former marriage, Miss Evelyn Allen and Sonny Allen, Birmingham, Ala.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Jack Parkman, Prentiss; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Allen, Newhebron; three sisters, Mrs. Horace Speights, Oakvale; Mrs. Dewey Weathersby and Mrs. Corrine Redding.
