Dillard I. Holt, 86, North Michigan Avenue, died Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. in the IOOF Nursing Home, having been ill for a year and critically ill the past six months.
Mr. Holt was born Dec. 17, 1892, in Adair County, Ky., the son of J.C. and Dina[Vina] Bryant Holt. He was a painter and contractor in Decatur County and also in Indianapolis.
He was married to Mattie Gertrude Ayres in Columbia, Ky., in 1911 and she preceded him in death Feb. 22, 1970. He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Charles (Mary) Oliphant, Burney, Mrs. Clarence (Nellie) Fogle, Westport, Mrs. Leo (Dollie) Hearld, North Vernon and Mrs. Margie Conk Bozard[Bogard], Greensburg; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Virgle Holt, Kokomo, Jack Holt, Adair County, Ky.; three sisters, Mrs. Gertie Sheppard and Mrs. Lois Goodin, Adair County, Ky., and Mrs. Flora Burton, Columbia, Ky.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild and three sisters.
The services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home with burial in the Milford Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday.
