J. W. Grizzell Dies of Apoplexy

President of People's Bank of Salisbury and of Prominent Family of Clifton Passes Away

J. W. Grizzell, 57, president of the People's Bank of Salisbury died at his home in Salisbury, Thursday evening about 6 o'clock, following a stoke of apoplexy. Several weeks ago he was ill but had recovered sufficiently to return to work, but a few days before his death he had decided to remain at his home for a few days rest. He was found by a neighbor before his wife, who also has a position at the bank, returned home.

At one time Mr. Grizzell was the Chariton County Treasurer and had been connected with People's Bank for years. He was one of the leaders in the Salisbury Baptist Church. Both he and Mrs. Grizzell are members of prominent Randolph County families of the Clifton Hill neighborhood. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Grizzell of this place.

Besides his parents and widow, Mr. Grizzell is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Grover Taylor of Los Angeles, California, and a son, T. N. of Jackson, Mississippi. Mrs. Taylor and Mr. Grizzell had returned to their homes after being called to his bedside when he was ill before. Both returned for the funeral. Four sisters also survive. The are Miss Sarah Grizzell of Fowler, Col., Mrs. Robert Brockman of Kansas City, Mrs. Tal Burton of Huntsville and Mrs. Ray McAdams of Clifton Hill.

Funeral services were conducted from the Salisbury Baptist Church Monday afternoon and burial was made at the Salisbury cemetery.
There was several people from here attended the funeral.
