William was born to John and Mary Ann Horne Jenks in Ireland.

The family immigrated to Canada sometime on the mid 1820's.

He married first Bridget Riley June 3 1833 in Caledonia, Canada.

William married second Elizabeth M. Dexter November 15 1838 in Bytown ( Ontario) Canada.

To this union were born 9 children.

Sometime in the mid 1860's they separated and Elizabeth remarried.
