Josiah Allen was born in Pennsylvania, the 5th of 12 children born to
John Allen Jr and Rebecca Sheppard. He was one of the earliest
settlers of Franklin County, Indiana coming to the area with his
father in 1805. He married Sarah Harvey on 26 Dec 1816 and they had
nine children. Mr. Allen died in Union, Indiana where he lived from
1818 till the end of his life.
