Obituaries.
Andrew E. Baxter, 77, a former resident at 1608 W. First St. died at 9:30 a.m. Friday at a Marion nursing home where he had been a patient for the past three years.
Mr. Baxter had lived in Marion for 20 years. He was a native of Marshall Co. IL. and was a retired employe of the Rock Island Railroad. Mr. Baxter was a member of the First Church of God in Marion.
Surviving are three sons, Marshall, of Marion, Earl, of Gary and Ernest Dewayne, of Steger, IL; three daughters, Mrs. Newton (Mary Helen) Brannen, of Elwood, Mrs. Oral (Deloras) Bragg and Mrs. Oliver (Betty) Purtee, both of Marion; four brothers, Herman, Clarence and Wallace all of Hammond and Homer of Momence, IL.; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Rogers, of Hammond; 35 grandchildren; five great-grandchildern; and one great-great-grandchildern.
The Rev. Dwight Grubbs will officiate at the funeral services to be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Needham & Son Funeral Home, 814 S. Adams St. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Sweetser.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7:30 p.m. today.
