The son of George Stauber and Francesca Schmidt Stauber, Christian Stauber, Sr. was born July 19, 1863 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio, one of four children. One of his brothers was John Stauber. Christian was a wood worker and blacksmith. A Catholic, baptised at St James Church, he married Protestant Ida M. Albrecht on January 22, 1884 at the Washington United Church of Christ in the Camp Washington neighborhood of Cincinnati, and they had five children: John Christian Stauber, John Stauber, Ida Francesca Stauber, Francis Stauber, and Josephine Stauber Thiemann. He died of croupous pneumonia at age 27 on March 3, 1891 in Cincinnati. He is buried at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Saint Bernard, Hamilton County, in Greater Cincinnati near his parents, and his wife Ida is buried at Cincinnati's Vine Street Hill Cemetery (formerly Carthage Road Cemetery started by the German Reform Church in Cincinnati) near her parents. Decades after Christian's death, his grandson Lee Stauber added a marker to his grave. His heritage was German. There is no known photo of Christian Stauber. I hope one of his descendents will add his photo to this site.
