He was united in marriage to Mary T Eggers, to which union five children were born, two of whom died infancy. They moved to Kansas in the year of 1992 and settled on a farm southwest of Attica. They moved to Anthony in the year of 1911 and lived there until 1920 when they returned to their farm home.
In 1923 they moved to Attica where they resided until the death of his wife, Nov. 23,1930. He had since made his home with his son, Mr. Benjamin Brooks of Attica.
He was converted at that the age of 21 years and united with the Baptist church in Illinois. In 1900 he united with the Church of God church and continued in that faith until death.
He leaves to mourn their loss, two daughters, Mrs Mae Dougherty, of Hutchinson, and Mrs. Anna Broce, of Anthony;one son, Mr. Benjamin Brooks, of Attica, one sister-in-law, Mrs. Sarah Brooks of Attica; nine grand chiildren, 25 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral Services were held Friday, June 6, at the United Brethren Church conducted by Re. Samuel Dooty, assisted by Rev. V.C. Buttermore. Burial was in the Attica cemetery. - The Attica Independent Newspaper
