V. L. "Slim" McCuskey, the son of Arthur and Mary (Keesecker) McCuskey, was born October 10, 1988 [sic], near Queen City, and died Friday, December 16, 1988, in a Des Moines, Ia., hospital at the age of 90 years.

He married Loradeo [sic] Powell on October 18, 1926. She preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were seven brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Mary Jane) Wagner, Des Moines, Ia., and Mrs. David (Joyce) Schelin, Cameron Park, Calif.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold McCuskey, Kirksville, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Reared in the Queen City area where he attended school, Mr. McCuskey went to Iowa in 1919 to work on a farm. He and his wife lived and farmed in the Farnamville, Paton and Gowrie, Ia., area all of their married life. He retired at the age of 76 and they moved to Gowrie, Ia.

Services for Mr. McCuskey were held Sunday, December 18, 1988, at United Methodist Church, Gowrie, Ia., with the Rev. Gard Bird officiating.

Interment was in Dawson Township Cemetery.
