Funeral services for Jack Mason Tinder, 61, were held Monday afternoon at the Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel in Bozeman. Burial was at Sunset Hills Cemetery.

Mr. Tinder died suddenly Wednesday, December 24, at his home on the Lower Madison.

He was born March 11, 1919, the son of William and Mabel Tinder. He received his early education at the Elk Creek School and graduated from Manhattan High School in 1937.

He married Marie Westerman on April 18, 1941, at Hardin, and operated Poores Garage in Bozeman until 1943, when they moved to Seattle. In 1946, they returned to the Madison and have resided there until the present.

He worked at Ideal Cement in Trident from 1954 to 1963 and at Kaiser Permanante in East Helena from 1963 until his retirement in 1977. He was financial secretary of the United Lime and Gypsum Workers Union during this period.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; his mother, Mabel Tinder of Bozeman; a son, Roger "Skip" Tinder of Bozeman; a daughter, Mrs. Grant (Jackie) Ballantyne of Manhattan; a brother, William P. Tinder of Virginia Beach, Virginia and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.
