RUSH A GILCHRIST
Rush Archibald Gilchrist was born near Wapplo, Iowa, April 12, 1857 an died at his home in Stamford, Nebraska, November 14, 1919, age 62 years, 7 months and 2 days.
At the age of seven years he moved with his parents to Lacona, Iowa. He grew to manhood on a farm near Medora, Iowa. On Dec. 24, 1889, he was united in marriage to Anna Bell Wendell and to this union three children were born, namely: Everett E., Clifford R. and Cyrus A. All of whom were present at the funeral with the exception of Clifford R., who died in 1898.
He joined the Presbyterian Church at Medora, Iowa at the age of 19 years and served as elder in the church for twenty years. He spent four years as a merchant at Dallas, Iowa and then moved to McCook, Nebraska where he resided until about two weeks ago, when he moved with his family to Stamford, Nebraska, where he passed away. He suffered three years with asthma and bronchial trouble, which caused his death. He leaves a wife, two sons and a host of friends to mourn his loss.
The funeral services were held at 2 o'clock last Saturday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church in Stamford and were conducted by Dr. Baily of Oxford. Members of the local lodge of Odd Fellows acted as pall bearers. Interment was in the Bethel Cemetery.
