Mark E. Bowen, 87, of Venice, Fla., passed away Good Friday, April 2, 2010. He will be buried at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis next to his beloved wife of 33 years, Terry Bowen.
He was born in Franklin and put himself through college. He received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and his master's degree from Cal Tech in Pasadena, Calif.
After serving in the Army Air Forces in the mid-1940s, he became a certified public accountant and went into full-time accounting. He worked for Ernst & Ernst and Peat, Marwick & Mitchell and eventually became vice president of finance for Sargent Paint Co. in Indianapolis.
He loved Indiana University basketball and Indianapolis Colts football. He also was an avid golfer and tennis player. He was a longtime member and past president of Woodland Country Club in Carmel as well as a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Indianapolis.
He is survived by two sons, David Bowen of Tampa, Fla., and Tom Bowen of Dallas; a daughter, Mary Jane Wagner of Acton, Mass.; and five grandchildren. Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin handled arrangements.
