Mrs. Allen died on April 9, 2003, at Trigg County Hospital of natural causes.
Mrs. Allen was born on July 9, 1924, in Shelby County. She was the daughter of the late Ollie T. and Minnie Gillespie Litchfield.
Mrs. Allen was a homemaker and a member of the Cadiz Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymon Allen; a son, Alvis Clayton Allen; four sisters, Anna Mae Brooks, Waldine Butler, Alice Cunningham and Hattie Vest; a brother, Jesse Butts; and a grandson, James Clayton Allen.
Survivors include a son, James Allen, of Church Hill, Tenn.; a daughter-in-law, Nell Allen of Elizabethtown; a brother, Charles T. Butts of Cadiz; three sisters, Pauline Butts of Arizona, Lois Jennings of Shelby County, and Juanita Williams, of Jeffersontown; three sisters-in-law, Myrtlene Hooks, Nell Tyler and Myra Dean Waits, all of Cadiz; a brother-in-law, Chappel Allen of Cadiz; six grandchildren, Robin Crenshaw, Lisa Oliver, April Smelser, Kim Oliver, Jennifer Caldwell and Jeffrey Oliver; and five great-grandchildren, Benji Burke, Anna Smelser, Carl Smelser, Brie Caldwell and Rachel Oliver.
Serving as pallbearers was Greg Allen, Steve Allen, Harold Butts, Kenneth Butts, Larry Cunningham, Jerry Ray Tyler, Mike Waits and Scottie Waits.
Music was provided by Arrice Taylor, vocalist and Johnnie Taylor, vocalist and pianist.
