GARDEN CITY — Wayne Eugene McMillan, 81, died April 18, at the Manor Care Health Services in Wichita. He was born Oct. 23, 1928, in Brownell, the son of Robert C. and Leona Squiers McMillan. On Jan. 6, 1950, he married Dorothy Mae Jones in Great Bend. A former resident of Garden City for 40 years, moving to Wichita in 2006, he was owner and operator of Garden Optical in Garden City.
Mr. McMillan was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Garden City.
Survivors include his wife; one Son, Wayne (and Barbara) McMillan Jr. of Haysville; one daughter, Cherry Lovato of Wichita; one grandson, Caleb (and Dolly) McMillan of Holcomb; one granddaughter, Amber Meyers McMillan of Derby; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard McMillan, and his son-in-law, Stephen Lovato.
Graveside Services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the Vansburgh Cemetery in Brownell, with the Rev. Randy Caddell presiding. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City. The family requests memorials be given to the Wayne McMillan Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
