Dorothy N. Eble, 77, Independence, died Monday, January 20, 2003, at Regency Care Center.

Mrs. Eble was born June 17, 1925, to Joseph and Pauline Nelson, in Clinton, Iowa. Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Independence. She was also very active in the "Y" Wives Club. Dorothy enjoyed genealogy and was active in the Jackson County Genealogical Society, the Clinton Historical Society and the Dewitt County Historical Society. She had published two books on family history and has a third book ready to be printed. Mrs. Eble enjoyed crocheting and doll collecting. She also spent many enjoyable hours making a four-generation quilt.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Leonard Eble, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Caren and Maurice Pilant, Urich, and Julie and Rob Savage, Independence; one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Debbie Eble, Oviedo, Florida; one son, Jeff Eble, of the home; one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, David and Jennifer Pilant, Springfield; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Lori and Andy Fritz, Ozark, Erin and Sean Eble, Oviedo, Florida, and Cassie and Joel Savage, Independence, and one great-grandson, Colby Fritz.

Funeral services were Thursday, January 23, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, with interment at Oak Ridge Memorial Gardens.
