OBITUARY. James Henry Barnum was born in Lenox, Berkshire county, Massachusetts, on the twenty-eighth day of December, 1834. He died at Lincoln, Kansas, the twenty-ninth day of March, 1919, age 84 years and 3 months. 'He spent his childhood Massachusetts and at the age of twenty moved to Illinois. , When the Civil war began he enlisted in the 64th regiment of Illinois Volunteer Infantry and served until the close of the war. He married Eliza Hanes at Man-taneo, Illinois, on the 29th of September, 1868. They spent 50 1-2 years together, most of it in Kansas. They moved from Illinois to Lincoln county, Kansas, in 1871. To this union was born six children. Emma died June 15, 1901; the other five are all present.' He leaves a wife, five children and three grandchildren to mourn his loss.
