ANDERSON — Dessie Evelyn (Fite) Matthews, 88, died April 18, 2010.

She was born May 21, 1921, in Newhall, W.Va., the daughter of Lewis E. Fite and Cora Marie (Logan) Fite. She married Fred L. Matthews on June 8, 1940, at North Anderson Church of God and a faithful servant to the church ever since. She committed her life to the devout service to her family, friends, church and community. She was an exquisite homemaker known for her wonderful cooking, making everyone feel like family and not letting anyone be without. Her faith in the Lord and prayers reached beyond those she knew and touched countless lives.

Survivors include . . ..

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred L. Matthews; daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Jerry Perkins; sisters, Callie Bitner and Hattie Pursglove; and brother, Peter Fite.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Community Northview Care Center for all their personal love and care given to Dessie.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Brent Matthews and Pastor Jim Lyon officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Madison Park Church of God, P.O. Box 2478, Anderson, IN 46018.
