Robert Jack Price was a Constable 1891-1894, And, was a member of the Anti Horse Theft Association, and was also a Farmer.
An early Constable in new territory in those days was the only law they had in the area at that time, They had the authority of a U.S. Marshal or Sheriff.
When the first jail was built 1890-1891 R.J. Price put the first man in jail in County B Oklahoma Territory, what later became Pottawatomie County OK., the jail was built near, or in what is now the town of Tecumseh, OK.
The Counties in Oklahoma Territory did not have names yet, they went by letters, and no law, so they elected a Constable for each County. R.J. Price was elected 4 times in County B, and served for four years.
In 1850 Census he was in Hempstead County AR., and 1860 Census he was in Ouachita County, AR., In 1870 Census he was in Navarro County, TX., 1880 Census he was in Cooke County TX., In 1890 he was in Indian Territory, later was known as Carter County, OK.
