Gilstrap had four children: Michael "Leroy" Gilstrap, Ronnie Gilstrap, Elizabeth Carver, and Peggy Williamson; Served in the US Marines and owned Gilstrap Textiles in Ware Shoals,SC and in Anderson,SC.The business was closed shortly after his death.He was last married to Janice (Kennedy) Gilstrap of Ware Shoals to whom he had a daughter. Two late brothers,James and Johnny Gilstrap.One sister,E.Okerman.
