Emery Abercrombie passed away May 13, 2008, at Mill Site Lodge in 100 Mile House, British Columbia, Canada.
Emery was born in Jane, Mo., on Nov. 5, 1915, the only son of Dee and Dora (Pendergraft) Abercrombie. After helping to support his family by traveling across the country harvesting crops during the Depression, Emery met Mildred Harner of Lanagan, Mo., who became his wife of 47 years. Emery served his country with pride, spending WWII in France. After over 20 years of water well drilling in the 4-state area, Emery set out on another adventure, moving his family to British Columbia in 1969, hoping to ranch. Upon arrival, realizing the area's need for water wells, he again set his hand to the drill rig, working around the Williams Lake area until his semi-retirement in the early 1990s.
Emery was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, and three sisters, Geneva, Dorothy and Audrey.
He is survived by two sisters, Doris of Washington and Virginia of Missouri; 11 children, Norma of California, Margaret of Indiana, Elizabeth of Colorado, Brenda of Arkansas, Donald Ronald, Wayne, Dennis and Carol of British Columbia, and Mary and Linda of Missouri; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services were held in Williams Lake, B.C., at the Evangelical Church with Pastor Brad Miller officiating at 1 p.m. on May 21, 2008.
