Kerosene Explosion, Fatal Result
Mrs. W. H. Owen died at her home in Canon City last Thursday morning as the result of an explosion of a large kerosene can. She had picked up the can and was pouring the combustible on the fire when it exploded, severely shocking the unfortunate woman and setting her clothes afire. She wrapped herself in comforts and blankets as best she could to smother the flames that enveloped her and her cries soon brought in the neighbors. Everything that could be, was done to aid her but her suffering was so intense that she died four hours after the accident occurred.
Previous to going to Canon some months since, Mrs. Owen was a resident of this county for over twenty years, the greater part of which time she resided here, where she had a wide circle of friends. The husband and son have the sympathy of this community in their sad affliction.
