Marian Bowman of Portland went to be with the Lord, Sept. 18, 2009. She leaves a legacy of love and caring to all she knew.

Born Nov. 2, 1930, in Mallard, Iowa, Marian lived in Ware, Iowa, before graduating from Oregon's North Bend High School in 1948. She graduated from Emanuel Hospital School of Nursing in 1951 and spent a fulfilling 30-year career as a registered nurse at Woodland Park Hospital in Portland. She met the love of her life, Les Bowman, in 1949 and they were happily married for 58 years. Marian spent her years enjoying traveling, hiking, family reunions, camping, photography and most importantly, spending time with family. Most of all, she loved spending time with Les. Marian's faith at Parkrose United Methodist Church gave her much comfort in good times and trying times. As a member of the church, she was president and Woman of the Year. She also spent many years volunteering and leading the Parkrose PTA.

Marian is survived by her husband and children; sisters, Lynn Vosgier and Jo Burgess; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, in Parkrose United Methodist Church. Contributions may be sent to Parkrose United Methodist Memorial Fund, 11111 N.E. Knott St., Portland, OR 97220.
