Born on Jan. 7, 1869 near Scotland, he was a son of the late George W. and Eliza Rook Alexander. He held membership in the First Evangelical United Brethren Church. During his early life he was engaged in farming and was employed for several years by the former Huber Hardware store. Since 1924 he owned and operated the transfer company. He had been retired for the past several years.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Emma K. Brown Alexander; a daughter, Mrs. William Johnson of College Park, MD; two sons, James M. and Wilbur G., both of Chambersburg; a foster son, Harry D. Black of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
