AURORA, Colo. — Mary E. Barton, 95, Aurora, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 1995, at Sable Care Center, Aurora.

Mrs. Barton was born Mary Ellen Smith on Jan. 9, 1900, at Palmer. She was a resident of Osborne from 1939 to 1989, when she

moved to Aurora. She and her husband owned and operated grocery stores in Lucas, Ellsworth and Osborne.

They sold the stores in Lucas and Ellsworth in 1939 and moved the entire operation to Osborne in 1939. They also owned

Barton Wholesale produce company.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Order of Eastern Star and the

United Methodist Church, all of Osborne.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert B. in 1972; a daughter, Doris Marie Ward; a son, Junior Herbert; and a granddaughter.

Survivors include a son, George Joshua of Aurora; a daughter, Mary Ellen Titus of Manhattan; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Clark-Gashaw Mortuary, Osborne, the Rev. Brent Clayton officiating.

Burial will be in Osborne Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Osborne United Methodist Church or the Osborne Public Library.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 238 N. First, Osborne 67473.
